Flat Iron Steak Sandwich
Ingredients (makes 4 sandwiches)

1.25–1.5lb Chop House Flat Iron Steak
Chop House sauce packet
Onions + sandwich
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp butter or olive oil
- 4 sandwich rolls (hoagie rolls, ciabatta, or sourdough slices)
- 4–8 slices provolone or Swiss (or white cheddar)
- Optional add-ons: arugula, sliced tomatoes, pickled jalapeños, sautéed mushrooms
Garlic aioli
- 1/3 cup mayo (or Greek yogurt + mayo mix)
- 1 small garlic clove, grated (or 1/2 tsp garlic powder)
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- Pinch of salt + pepper
Steps
- Make the aioli
Stir mayo, garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Refrigerate until ready. - Caramelize onions
Heat butter/oil in a skillet over medium. Add onions + a pinch of salt.
Cook 10–15 minutes, stirring, until soft and golden-brown. Remove. - Reheat the steak
Heat a skillet (or grill) to high. Reheat 2–3 minutes per side. - Slice
Slice steak thinly against the grain and top with sauce packet. - Toast + assemble
Toast rolls (optional). Spread aioli, add steak, onions, and cheese. - Melt the cheese
Put assembled sandwiches in a 400°F oven 3–5 minutes or cover in a skillet on low until cheese melts
